Specifically, I contend that Plath draws upon a set of visual techniques, which I categorise as hallucinations, mental images, dreams, blurriness, and visual-to-verbal re-inscription. The new issue of Slightly Foxed dropped into my letter box on Friday &, as always, I’m looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately my hopeful autumn poem on Sunday has had no effect. ![]() Summer was better than expected – no extreme hot days or heatwaves, quite a bit of rain – but it should be over now! There, rant over. March has begun – where is autumn? We’re in the middle of a predicted fortnight of very warm humid weather with no rain in sight. Julia, George Hurstwood s actual wife continues to pester Hurstwood because she isn t getting the attentions she deserves. Carrie, on the other hand, is unaware of the affair she is having with Hurstwood. They then decide to get married despite the fact the Hurstwood was still married to his first wife. Soon she is captivated by his charm and falls in love with him. ![]() Hurstwood draws her by taking her out and buying her gifts. Hurstwood is a married man, yet he feels his marriage is falling apart and thus begins his pursuit of Carrie. Through this game, Drouet introduces Carrie, whom Hurstwood is later drawn to. One evening, Drouet invites George Hurstwood, a high classed, well to do man, to a card game. Drouet has become fond of Carrie and offers her twenty dollars to buy new clothes. Drouet, the gentleman she had met at the train station upon arrival to Chicago.
